How to Measure Carpet Pad
Measure the length and width of the room in feet, don't forget the closets and doorways. Multiply the length times the width. That number is the square feet in the room. At the room's you're putting pad in together plus an additional 10 percent or error and that is the amount of pad you need.

Example: A room 12 feet wide by 15 feet long.
12 × 15 = 180 sq. ft.
180 sq. ft. × 10% = 18
180 sq. ft. + 18 sq. ft. = 198 sq. ft.
